ACBL Bridge Series

 

 

St. Louis Bridge Center is proud to announce that we will be offering the complete ACBL Bridge Series program. This program was originally designed by world class educator, Audrey Grant. The ACBL Bridge Series consists of a progression of five courses, each focusing on a different aspect of the game and bringing the students from absolute beginners through to the point where they can confidently play in any bridge game. The series is supported by excellent books and the fantastic (and free) Learn to Play Bridge software. People already familiar with the game can, of course, start at any point in the series, but most will benefit from the complete set of lessons.  The following courses will be offered in 2019:

 

"A Taste of Bridge" /w Janet Vontz

Beginning dates:

Starting Thursday, January 2 @ 10:00am - CHAT game every Thursday morning with an informal lesson at 9:30 for students arriving early.  This game allows players to ask questions of the director during bidding and play of the hand.  Masterpoints are awarded for pairs who do well.  Hand records are provided.  An excellent learning opportunity for players with under 20 Masterpoints

Starting Saturday, January 4 @ 9:30am - First day of 6-week beginner course "A Taste of Bridge" for players who NEVER played bridge before presented by Janet Vontz.  6 Saturdays.  First two classes are FREE.  Next four classes are $10 each.

Starting Saturday, January 4 @ 9:30 AM - CHAT game every Saturday morning at 9:30 AM with an informal lesson at 9:15 for students arriving early.  This game allows players to ask questions of the director during bidding and play of the hand.  Masterpoints are awarded for pairs who do well.  Hand records are provided.  An excellent learning opportunity for players with under 20 Masterpoints.  

 

Starting Monday, January 6 @ 1:30pm - First day of 8-week course PLAY OF THE HAND presented by John Antognoli. Learn to analyze the dummy, count winners & losers, manufacture tricks out of thin air, keep the danger hand off lead. Dazzle your partners with improved declarer play. Cost: $160

Starting Tuesday, January 7 @ 1:30pm - First day of 4-week course COMMONLY USED CONVENTIONS presented by Linda Powers.  This course highlights four of the best conventions every bridge player should have in their toolbox:  Strong 2 club openings and responses, weak two bids and responses, Jacoby 2NT and negative doubles.  Cost:  $80

Starting Wednesday, January 8 @ 2:00pm - First day of the regular BID - PLAY - DISCUSS sanctioned short bridge game. All tables play the same hand at the same time. Highlights of bidding and play will be discussed after each hand along with your questions. A fabulous learning opportunity. Game fee is $10.

Sunday, February 23 - Next LEARN BRIDGE IN A DAY for brand new bridge players. Learn the basics of bridge compressed in one day.   Cost is $80 and includes lunch.
